Interesting observations..., I find that the blades in my Merkur Progress feel like they are a bit "off" ...that is it is more aggressive on one side of the razor, never thought to check if they needed to be "fiddled" with
Of course that R89 is one sexah lookin beast! May have to grab one for my bathroom (found online for 55, not too bad)

Thanked: 485I'd just like to chime in and say the R89 is supurb. I got mine from a very nice fellow here, with a bunch of blades. The workmanship on this razor is excellent, and it feels really good in the hand, the weight of the head does ALL the work. So far, my favorite blades are Astra.

Thanks! I picked up the blue and green bowl from a Chicago potter artist years ago. Made a perfect lather bowl. The brown one in the middle is just to support my brush while it soaks. The traditional soap mug is from Muhle. Now, that "bowl" on the far back right is something different. It's carved from a bull's horn. It's nice for a quick lather with cream, fits nicely in the palm of your hand and when it's wet, it has a natural kind of stickiness against the skin.
