I hate it when someone chimes in when they haven't used the items. So I am officially pissing myself off.

    Here Goes:
I haven't used either, but I have used several Vintage Gillettes.

After closeness of the shave I have two additional preferences. Balance and a little more weight to a DE.

I have 2 adjustable razors (Fat Boy and a SuperSpeed) along with 6 other TTOs. I like the heft of the Fat Boy and the balance of an older Non- adjustable Superspeed Flair Tip over the SupereSpeed Adjustable. The SuperSpeed Adjustable shaves fine but it feels off balance when I am shaving.

If the balance of the parker is good with a little additional weight in my mind I would try it first.

If anyone owns the Parker and can speak to the weight and balance I would appreciate it!
May your lather be moist and slick, the sweep of your razor sure, and your edge always keen!

I almost always use Feathers with it and it is a good combo for me.

It depends on what you want. Merkur razors have a better reputation, but they also cost more and they don't make a TTO. Parker makes several TTO DE razors that are fairly affordable, and are considered superior to Chinese razors ( the only other source of modern TTO razors). So, if you want a TTO razor that offers good quality for the cost, then Parker makes several good choices. If, OTOH you want a razor with a reputation for a bit higher quality, don't care if it is TTO, and don't mind spending a bit more money, then Merkur is probably a better choice. Also, if you'd prefer a Merkur, but price worries you, they make 3 piece razors, which cost a bit less than their 2 piece models.

It is ultimately your choice. They are both reasonable options that you will probably be quite happy with.

What about Ikon? Or the PILS? He makes some awesome looking DEs IMO. Thought about buying one, but Im cool with my Feather AS-D1. Only reason Id buy an Ikon is to have an open tooth DE.
