    Question British Gillette Rocket

    Hi guys,
I just picked up this Gillette for $30.00 at a local antique/pawn shop. I cleaned it up & polished it with some Maas, and it turned out to be in incredible shape. The TTO mechanism still works great and after I put a Feather blade in it, the razor delivered an excellent shave. I am having trouble pinpointing the year of this razor, wondering what you guys think. Under the head is a Gillette emblem on the left side, on the right it says MADE IN ENGLAND. There is also II in the middle area. Inside the blade tray, the left side says BRIT.PAT. , and the right side has the number 694093. I know that it is a Gillette Rocket, and I'm thinking it might be the ''Parat'' model because the knob on the bottom is the same size as the handle, but I still have no idea on the year. Any opinions?

I don't think it is a Parat, the Parat model has a portion at the top of the handle that is smooth,I believe your razor dates from the 40's.

I'm not sure what smooth part you are referring to, as the top of this handle is smooth.

I'd say 1940's as well. Looks very similar to a 1940's Superspeed I have.

Does the center bar inside the head have a notch at both ends?

Yes sorry, I got confused between the Parat and the Montblanc. This razor could be a Parat, if so that would put it's age as around the late 50's.

I saw this as a good deal, as a new plastic Mach 3 with a pack of blades is worth even more. I guess you should have sold one to me, you would have turned a bigger profit!
