Thanked: 51There's definitely nothing like a good DE shave. In January of this year, I began using straight razors and my Gillette DE has seen very little use as of late. However, over the weekend I cut my thumb and had to have stitches, so I can't exactly hold my straights right now. Yesterday before work I pulled out the Gillette and a fresh Feather and had a phenomenal shave. I was a bit stubbly-er after work than I am after using my straights, but it was still a superb shave and the Gillette will definitely be back in the rotation more often now.

Thanked: 146It's so funny that this thread should pop up. I also had my first DE shave Monday. Found an old Gillette Slim (1962, code H1) in pristine condition. It is exactly like my Dads which my brother is using now. But although I did not get irritated at all, the shave was not nearly as close. I used my grandfather 1912 Gem SE and got a great shave from that though, so maybe it's the blade or my technique...Think I just like straights better. Takes about the same amount of time for either.

Thanked: 94With my beard and skin type it is hard to shave daily with a straight. I shave everday but I alternate SR and DE to be able to maintain apperance while giving my face a break. I love my Fatboy and my Tech. For blades I typically use Astra Platinum and have had no issues with thime providing a close comfortable shave time and time again. I am glad that you like your DE! they are fun little buggers

Thanked: 433So far no one has brought up injectors, those are my favorite with DE's a close second when I don't use a straight
