I suspect it is a '60s flair tip SS. I believe Gillette stopped putting the grooves on the twist knob after the end of the '50s. See this one on Mr-razor http://www.mr-razor.com/Rasierer/One...Speed%20L2.jpg. (1966 SS)

Here's a handy link to Gillette date codes for when you get the razor Gillette Date Codes for Safety Razors and Blades The letter is for the year and the number (1-4) is the quarter of that year that the razor was made. For example H-3 would be 3rd quarter 1962. Cool factor aside, I've figured out that using razors older than me results in remarkable shaves (unless I do something to make it otherwise (i.e. use a dull blade, poor technique, etc.) enjoy!

Nice find, looks just like my favourite shaving weapon. It'll polish up nicely too. I'm sure there was a de-gunking trick along the lines of "line a pan with tinfoil, fill the pan with water, put the razor in and boil away for 5-10 minutes". One good trick is to brush the razor with non-gel toothpaste and an old/unused toothbrush.

Yes, as everyone has noted, that's the Gillette Flare Tip from the late fifties or the early sixties. These are good shavers, and on the mild side. Like everything else Gillette made in the early days, they are well built, and will last forever. Good find.

I've purchased two different straight razors a couple of years apart from Australia and they both landed here in SE Washington State USA in about a week! Keep the faith!
