With good preparation and quality blades this DE razor is a true "shaver"
Patience, calm moves and in the end you will have a great shaving.

My new R41 arrived and today I decided to give it a try. Being somewhat nervous of it because of all the cautionary comments, I used MWF for lather. It came with a Derby blade and as I've always had good luck with those, I popped it in. WOW, best shave ever from a DE! I still like the EJ DE89 but this thing shaves much closer. It's not nicer to shave with because you definitely do have to be more careful, but certainly a better shave. My new fav DE.

There is a price to pay for the quality of the shave you get.
To tell you the truth when I mate the R-41 with a Gillette 7 o clock sharp blade the result is so close to a straight shave if someone was interested in straights and only wanted a shave with no interest in frills and acquisitions I would tell them to try the R-41 and see what the result is and possibly not even go with a straight (and I'm not kidding).
really if you treat the R41 more like a straight than a DE you are fine with it.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

First shave with Muhle r41
This thread is making me want an R41!
Congrats OP!
Does anyone own the r41 and a Barbasol that could offer a comparison in aggressiveness?
Thanks
