Default First shave with Muhle r41

    I am ecstatic.
    I love the r41.
    My closest shave ever.
I can say there is almost similarity with less aggressive razors.

I've been shaving with a Truefitt & Hill Carlton DE razor for a month and a half now with varying results.

Some shaves are mediocre DFSs , some are painful BBSs. The last shave I had with it was 2 days ago.
After applying my ASB I had some tingling. Normal for me. I just find the blade too deep between the cap and the guard. I'd nick myself once every 2 shaves no matter how gentle ,deliberate or patient I was.

But today's shave with the r41 was flawless. Not a single nick.
I did a WTG, a XTG and then a reverse XTG.

This is exactly what I need.
I feel like the blade edge protrudes enough from the razor for me to be able to maneuvere it and monitor it. And it's just so damn sharp or perceivably sharper.

The top photo is after the first pass (WTG).
The bottom one is after the second XTG pass.

Like my Panamera, the r41 didn't like too much sensitivity or weak strokes. It prefers deliberate and sharp strokes. Like other razors, apply no pressure though. But don't baby it.

What blade are you using in the R41? mine came with a sample derby, but I was thinking of going with my old stand by Astra platinums

I like Derby in anything. Tonight I used a new Gillette 7 o clock yellow, and bled like a stuck pig. My shaves with the Derby are most consistently good

I used a Feather but I'd love to try it with an Astra SP.
