Gillette Slim or Fat Boy
Ok guys, looking for your personal opinions. I'm looking into a vintage Gillette adjustable razor and have been scouring eBay. It looks like the a good Fat Boy is about twice the price of great adjustable Slim.
Ive done my research and it appears many people are saying that the two razors are very close in the shave delivered. But most people own the FatBoy.
Should I invest in the FatBoy or save the money and go with the Slim?

Thanked: 21Unfortunately I dont have a slim, but I do have a Fat Boy, and must say that I LOVE IT. Its the best shave that I have ever had. Not to mention the weight of the razor is perfect for me, just my opinion. You could really save money if you were to find one as I did at a flea market or antique store. And if I happen to find a slim im sure ill pick it up and give it a go as well.(love having options in the morning for my shave)
Respectfully,
Christian

I've never shaved with a Fat Boy, so I can't really say, but...
I'm not into DE's - I use mine if I'm in a rush or something. So, for me, I'm not looking for the ultimate shaving DE. I just wanted something that was fast, efficient, and safe. So for me, an adjustable SuperSpeed did the trick. I'd thought about a Fat Boy, but couldn't justify the price, given my intended use.

my journey from cartridge to str8 went through my grandfather's 64 slim. shaved with it exclusivity for about 4 months before switching to str8s, and it's still my travel razor. so I never tried a fat boy, but can attest that the slim is a great razor, enabling getting the most out of different blades, being able to dial the aggressiveness up or down. I'd certainly buy a Fatboy if I came across it and the price is right, but if the prices differ as much as you say I'd get the slim, try it first, you'll always be able to sell it and buy a fat boy later if you decide you don't like it.

I really like my slim. I haven't tried a fatboy, but I don't see the need to, since I'm content with what I have.

I guess it pays to set alerts for items on eBay. A mint condition FatBoy was posted about an hour ago as a Buy It Now / Make Offer item. I made an offer and it was accepted. My offer was for what I was going to bid for a Slim.
After the feedback here, I'll be keeping my eyes open for a nice Slim in the coming weeks.

ALOT of guys like the Fatboy better but i absolutely love my Slim !! i dont get a better shave from one or the other but the slim just feels better in my hand ... i use a straigh & DE almost for every shave anymore just cause i enjoy both so much , usually a 1 pass WTG and 1 or 2 pass ATG with the with the DE ... or one side of my face with the straight and the other side with the DE ...lol

I have both, and honestly believe the shave is the same using feather blades. I dial in 4 on both and get just as good results as the well respected EJ 89L.
You will enjoy the Slim and very soon the Fat Boy

Silents, I have shaved with both, the Fatboy and the Slim adjustable, and liked the Fatboy and disliked the other. The Slim Adjustable is the Fatboy on a diet. I got rid of my Slim Adjustable, but I have kept two Fatboys for my grandsons. So I suggest to go with the Fatboy.

Thanked: 1195I like the Fat Boy, but my preference if for heavy DE's. It's a great razor to have, but I'd say wait for a good price to come around. I can't believe what some FB's are selling for these days
