Not all blades come with this handy feature. I'll do that when I can though.

I also have a little disposable blade bank that I bought online somewhere. It was a dollar or two, if I recall. I think I added it to an order to bring me over the "free shipping" total. As a full time DE user I used it for over a year, and it's not half full yet. Now that I mostly shave with a straight razor, it's going to last me forever! Someone mentioned the little aluminum and plastic cases that Personna blades come in that have the slot in the back. I've saved up a couple of those so I can take one with me to use for the used blades when I travel.

I bought a house recently built in the 50s. The previous owner done some work around the house, but the bathroom needed to be redone. Moldy, and disgusting. I started to tear out the walls to find hundreds of razor blade pouring out onto my floor. Needless to say I had no idea why there were there, and I was quite aggravated with the dangerous cleanup. I am happy I read this thread and learned why there were razor blades in my bathroom wall.
Shaving is an art, something that fathers pass to sons. Between electric razors and busy schedules the art of shaving is slowly dying. 1959 Fatboy, 1967 SA, DD Goldedge, Bresduck DD Special No1

I was just going to ask why anyone in their right mind would put blades in their wall for this very reason lol "hey let's fill our walls with trash!"

That's kind of what I mean though...no one thought ahead and considered the fact that one day someone might renovate and have to deal with a safety hazard aka their "gone forever blades"

I wonder how many reno contractors have ripped out a bathroom wall only to find hundreds of nasty, rusty blades pour out at their feet.
I'd probably be pretty aggravated too lol

I put mine in an old mason jar. When it ever gets full (years from now) I think I'll try the vinegar and water trick pixel described.

I think any contractor worth his weight, knows to expect "anything" when pulling a wall down.
Several hundred DE blades, about a coffee can full, probably would not bother him much.

This finally solved my mystery. I own a remodeling business. The last bathroom I did was from the 1950's. I tore out this bathroom to the studs. Inside the wall was probably 50 to 75 DE blades. There was a medicine cabinet there we tore out too. That is pretty cool to know how they got there now. I was trying to figure that out. Funny thing was they all looked like they were in great condition. Weird. Never know what I'm gonna find in an old house.
