IMO this is a fine option when you do not have the time to strop. Inexpensive Parker SRRW rosewood scales (-$30). I get very close shaves with this and it handles just like a straight. Also not bad to look at for a shavette.
I have a kai and a weck sextoblade. I want to try a Parker sometime I have heard good things about them.
Mine seems to be well made, solid wood scales, stainless steel arm, and secure locking mechanism for holding half a double edged blade of your choice.
Used it this morning with Castle Forbes Lime and a L'Occitane Plisson brush. Very nice shave.
I have the new Tedalus Essence out of Switzerland, and all I can say is that when loaded with an AC Feather Super with my eyes closed there’s no way to distinguish it from a well-honed straight! It handles, feels and shaves like a normal straight.Attachment 334799
I used to use a Wick, with Personna blades, I had one with a steel handle and one with a aluminum one,I Prefer the steel, because of the weight. And the Personna blades are about the best IMHO.
