This shavette looks like it takes double edge blades snapped in 1/2

Unfortunately blades are a real personal thing what suits me may not suit you. The only way to know is try.

There are alot of good brands out there

Feather blades have a rep of being the sharpest blades, comfortable but unforgiving

Merkur blades another very good rep and the ones I have used have been good

Don't want to sound like I am trying to pass the buck, but if you can find a sampler pack from an online store that may be a good bet. You get a HEAP of blades that will last a long time and after you know what type of blade suit you.

I used a parker for almost 7 years. Used feather, personnas and Wilkinson sword. The wilkinsons were the brand I settled on with feather being second. There are so many blades to choose from and the shave quality and comfort is so different. So I would say try a sampler as was mentioned. Blade choice is extremely YMMV so the only way to find out is try em. Blade angle is critical with all blades be it straight or shavette. I found keeping it low almost flat worked for me. Good luck.

The razor you linked is referenced as unavailable.

I'd recommend the Feather SS folder with Pro Guard blades. Even with all the straights I have, if shaving quality was the selection criterion I would be happy with that alone.

Sparrow, I agree with my friend ace. The Feather SS folding razor with ProGuard blades is ideal for shavette starters. It is solidly built with enough weight and good balance. Indeed, it does give a fabulous shave.

+1 to Ace and Obie - it's a great system - both for beginners and "old hands"
