Thanked: 49I know this is probably a silly question for a couple of readons. One because I'm sure it has been discussed a great deal on the forum(i've been on the forum very little the last 8 months or so) and two because you probably wouldn't mention it in this context if you didn't like it. What do you think of the Mongoose?
I don't plan on rushing out to buy one, but it is definitely on my radar. I love the idea of using my feather blades in a safety razor. I've only used the super pro blades, but have been quite happy with them.Last edited by tedh75; 12-16-2015 at 02:16 AM.

Thanked: 96I have a Mongoose and it is heavy but with a Feather blade it will give you very close shave close to a straight. If not careful it will also give you a major league cut. The key to the Mongoose is to let the weight of the razor do the work. No extra pressure. The Mongoose offers some great workmanship and quality.

Thanked: 1After sitting unused for ages, I put my teakwood DX up for sale a little while ago.
It was slow to move so I thought I would have one last shave with it. Glad I did!
That shave was so remarkable, so smooth and enjoyable, even compared to my favorite Filarmonicas and Friodurs, that I shaved with it the next day too. Another amazing shave, and I really enjoyed the balance in my hand and the teakwood handle, and the elegance of the razor and the way it shaves.
I took it off the market and have used it every single day for nearly two weeks. I can't get over how wonderful it is.
Interesting note: on the first shave (that was intended to be a goodbye shave) I scratched the outer surface when loading the blade. It now has a tiny scratch along the side of the blade holder, and wouldn't be worth selling at the price I wanted. Luckily, I had already decided to keep it!
These are great razors, and I am getting about 10 shaves per blade, some get more.
I bought it for travel, but have found a new standard. I wonder when I will return to my Filly?
