I stumbled upon shavettes completely by accident. I ordered three straight razors from ebay and they sent me three shavette razors instead. A box of Shark razors arrived in the mail yesterday and I tried my first shave. I am very pleased with the results and will only go back to straights when I have learned how to strop properly. Shavettes are amazing.

    Aloha!

Glad Shavettes work for you. See my previous post. I really want Shavettes to work for me - when traveling.

Yes, many refer to Shavettes as Straight Razors and make no differentiation between the two. If you have ever gone to a Barber that actually wet-shaves with what they advertise as a "Straight-Razor" shave, what they use is actually a Shavette, because of blood-born pathogens. A Straight Razor is now considered too risky with disease transfer, so a Shavette is the straight-razor of choice in all the shops that I have gone to that wet-shave. Well, one actually used a DE, but all the rest were Shavettes.

Since discovering Voskhod Blades, I really have had better luck with using a Shavette. As I posted earlier in the thread, I think a Shavette would be a great choice for us gentlemen that like a straight razor, but travel frequently. You can even bring the Shavette on the aircraft (without the blades) and ship af few of your blades of choice to the hotel where you will be.

I actually brought my beloved Voskhod blades with me once to a barber that shaved and he gladly used them for my shave. I left the other 4 (of the 5-pack) with him and he said he was going to try them out. For me, the Voskhods are very forgiving, and mimic the forgiveness of my straight razor very well. But I still much prefer a straight razor over a shavette. But that's me. Others love shavettes. And I understand that.

    Mahalo!
