    Never heard of it and never going to try, either. Wow, that is one of the scariest things I have ever heard being done on a routine basis.

    I am glad he soaks his tools in alcohol every night, we wouldn't want to transmit infections now would we.

    My son, the eye doc, just read this and sees no real medical need for such a procedure. OTOH, people living near the equator, who are exposed to higher levels of UV radiation, can grow fatty deposits (pinguecula) on the sclera (white part). If these deposits cause irritation they can be removed by a surgeon. A lot of people have them but have no problems.

    I do this all the time with my straights, but I test them first on the HET, the Hanging Eyebrow Test.
