    Default DE vs straight razor

Today I shaved half of my face with a DE and the other with straight 3 pass on both. I must say my DE was a closer BBS, not big difference. Is something wrong with my straight razor or my technique or is this just a fact.

Sounds like it would be user error or equipment malfunction. The reason I say this, to me there is only one BBS if you can feel any hair in any direction anywhere on your face then it's not BBS. It's an all our nothing deal. There is no varying degrees of BBS.

I guess I came close with my straight but I definitely got BBS with my DE. I will say my straight got BBS it on my side burns but not on my chin and neck

Speaking from my own experience, I am sure it is technique. I can get a closer shave with de razors as well, but it is sooo fun using a straight.....

If I want a "true" bbs shave I will finish with the de, at least until my practice makes perfect with the straight.

That's where the learning curve on a DE and straight differ. I'm just on my 6th straight razor shave and those are problem areas for me, but it's getting better each time. Stick with it and you'll get closer and closer

My neck is hard to shave. My mid neck hairs grow left to right and a straight razor is too big to go against the grain and my DE has no problem when use the J Hooking technique.

I have been shaving with straights and de for a year. Still learning the straight. Got past a hurdle recently with my upper lip and chin area. Even the worst shave with a straight is better than the cartridge and canned goo I used to use, plus putting a blade to your neck and walking away after is the best..

My DE shaves are neck and neck with my straight shaves. I really don't buy into the idea a straight shave is closer or lasts longer than a DE. Done right both will do nicely.
