Two nights ago I did my first straight razor shave. I managed to finish without any nicks or cuts and just as I was done for some odd reason instead of moving the blade away from my face I moved it towards my face and touched my cheek with the edge. It was just enough to cause a perfectly straight red line about an inch on the side of my face. Really irritated myself because I managed to SR shave the first time without any incidents but cut myself when I was not even making a shave move.

No problem, if people as about it, tell them it's a dueling scar....

I can't say that I've done the dreaded mirror tap, and TBH I can't say I've even imagined it possible lol

These days I might get a decent nick once or twice a year, for the usual reasons.... lack of concentration etc. The funny thing is, and I've been saying this for a long time, the worst SR cuts I've had have been on my fingers. Now THAT makes you feel stupid

Things I learned in this thread:

    1. Don't shave with a foggy mirror.
    2. I'm glad my eyesight is good enough I don't need to get close enough to a mirror to risk tapping it.
    3. Now that I've opened my big mouth, I'll be susceptible to sudden blindness and my exhaust fan going on the fritz.

I thought of you this morning. I leaned in towards the mirror for the first time ever - trying to get a close look at razor vs. whiskers at lower lipline. As I glanced the handle nearing the glass I suddenly stopped, thought of this thread and decided I didn't need to see whiskers that closely. Sorry for your cut but thanks for sharing the heads up.

My cat likes to watch me shave and for the first year it was fine one day she decided to rub into my elbow while I was coming down my right check inch and a half deep cut and now the cat doesn't watch me shave been three years since that day lesson learned
