No thanks!
I've purchased some really great razors from the classifieds, a great old French razor called a Kabrand, a Revisor, and a great Double Duck Satin Wedge, all incredibly reasonably priced in awesome condition. The members here are constantly writing, check out the Classifieds, and it seems these gems just get missed. Right now, there's a gorgeous 6/8 Wade and Butcher, with a thumb notch, in the Classfieds for $60.00, oh well....go for the Gold Dollar, I'll take the Wade and Butcher.....just sayin'....Last edited by Phrank; 02-15-2014 at 04:40 PM.

Thanked: 6Great looking razor, does it shave as good as it looks?

It is actually one of the top razors I have in terms of a shave, really a superb blade. So much so, that I searched E-Bay for another, found a #19, and promptly paid more than twice than the #69, but if it's anything like #69, worth every penny! Just getting it cleaned up and honed right now.
Point is, the Classifieds on this site are your friend
Sorry, didn't mean to go OT, back to Gold Dollars.....

I got my Robeson Suredge here for a great price and it came shave ready and I love it. I also got my unmarked Dovo from a vendor here and it came shave ready and delivered a great shave for a great price as well. I was eyeing that W&B as well, it has a nice patina, but I'm sure could be polished up real nice as well.

Hey - no problem, exploration is great, all part of this wonderful hobby!
Go and have a look at some of the threads by Laurens, he's does stunning things with Gold Dollars.
If I'm not mistaken, in order to learn honing, he decided to use GD's for the very fact that while they can be great blades, they have a tendency to have inconsistent geometry; therefore, perfect to learn how to hone when presented with blades with various levels of problems.
He then took it up a notch, and did some further design (e.g., scales) work on them, and created some really spectacular blades, all great shavers.
So in terms of exploration and what your preferences are, absolutely agree with you....cheers!
