"Spike" points refer to the tip of the razor, where it makes a 90* angle with the cutting edge of the blade -- real sharp, like, well, a "spike"; "hollow point" is a type of bullet. <grin>
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

The tip of a spike will come to an abrupt end, a ninety degree angle leaving that very tip ultra sharp. A square tip that is not a spike will have that very tip slightly rounded off to remove the threat.

Thanks guys yeah I just noticed i wrote hollow instead of round... Personally I blame the mad as toothache I've had since last night. Off to the dentist this afternoon to get the offending molar removed.. Sigh payback for years of dental neglect.

I always thought spike points weren't perfect 90* tips. My Red Imp looks almost like it juts out slightly. /_ like that.

I always called them square tip or square point, they are my favorite type of blade...so spike point it is then!

And yes, that's a very nice blade!!

    Thanks!

    Default Spike Tip

I was totally shocked. I bought a Clement and the shave for the First two passes was great. Then... Slice o matic. thought I was just sloppy with my stroke, Took another pass... Lit myself up like the 4th of july Bleeding like a stuck pig. Couldnt figure out for the life of me what just happened. How it happened.
Upon closer inspection it was just the tip that bit me....Twice.. Then I saw the angle that others are describing. Its not a 90 angle .it is more of a 98 degree protuberence. I spike. like a small male deer antler
I learned to use it for surgical strikes. That single hair up under your nose that you Just cant reach.
An errant ear hair protruding from your external auditory meatus.
Careful assesement and then move in for removal.
Its the right tool for the right job. But if you dont know its there. OUCH. cut you so fast you dont have time to jump.
