And yes, that's a very nice blade!!

    Thanks!
I've always considered this to be a square tip, no spike. If you look closely at the very tip, you'll see its been rounded or muted to take away any threat.

Cool - I can see how it's muted, very subtle difference, thanks!

Spike point = I feel like I haven't cut myself in a while, so i think I will use it today.

Well I hadn't cut myself in a while and figured I wouldn't have to worry about shaving with a spike.
So yesterday evening I settle in to do a 3 razor shave.
I had just finished honing three totally different blades and was putting them to the final shave test.
The first two straights were round tip and passed the WTG and XTG no problem, so on to the spike cutthroat a Dixon & Elliot German steel for the final pass. I must have forgotten that this was a non muted spike because within a couple of strokes I put a surprisingly deep 1 inch vertical slash in the neck nearest the jugular. Almost bled as much!
Got the bleeding under control and realized that probably should have gotten a stitch or two but I didn't feel like having to explain. It was tough enough explaining to my dear wife why the gauze and tape on the neck.
Maybe i'll be wearing my turtle necks to the meet in Edmonton.
I think i'll set this blade away for a while,....... at least until I heal up.
Bottom line,......this style of razor deserves a lot of respect,......

And nope,....I won't be posting pix.

This is interesting, I prefer spike points and have yet to cut myself worthy enough for a COTD with any of them!?!

I've got a few nicks on a bump or two from all my other razors except one, and it's an extra-hollow and it is cursed, which I successfully shaved with for the first time this evening after eating lots of garlic and using Holy Water to shave - my cursed Double Duck Goldedge spike point. This one has bit me, and bit me well, every time I've used it (4 previous times) because it's extra-hollow I can only conclude, only one I've got like that, the blade looks almost tissue thin...so I'm told they flex to your face more, and one mistake, and you see the blood before you know you've been cut!!

So, the Goldedge is either cursed, hexed, damned, it's a wannabe Double Duck Grim Reaper, or it takes more skill than I have to wield an extra-hollow?

    I wonder which it is?
