Thanked: 0Struck a divot this morn
Now this was not just a nick, but a full fledged divot of flesh, flap and all - right above my chin, below my lip, trying to get a closer chin shave - I swear the blade was impatient and bit me. I was being careful and smooth, and it took a literal chomp out of me. I knew it was bad when it happened, squeal and all. Not terribly big, but very messy.
Now what do I do, I staunched the bleeding (even though it took a lot of direct pressure) - I folded the flap over (probably will create a scar) - and now I amm curious what I will do to shave around it tomorrow?
Any advice (besides DON"T DO IT AGAIN)?

Thanked: 0Maybe, but...
I really don't think I was pushing that hard; I might have been, but I am usually pretty calm over my chin, and this was a downward stroke - was going well, and then YOUCH. I pulled the blade away quickly, and actually looked at it as if to say, "What the hell did you do that for?"
Strange moment for sure. Not cool on the WAF either.

Did the exact same thing on my left cheek. I took the skin flap off though. Let it kind of scab up and then shave around it. Maybe take a few days off to let it settle into healing.
I got mine from a clumsy angle.

I've personally never tried this, but Bill Ellis (you can see the pics on his CD) described closing a razor wound with crazy glue. Supposedly this is sometimes used in surgery??? Said it did a great job and left almost no scar.
FWIW,

crazy glue is used to close cuts at hospitals, etc....I think Bandaid brand makes a "liquid" bandaid product...essentially it is just crazy glue. Never used it myself, but I know many people who have had to do it for non-shaving related incidents and it seems to work well.

Thanked: 346Yup, it's used in surgery, or at least it used to be. I used it frequently for this purpose back when I was younger and stupider (I grew up in the country, where there were lots of opportunities to be stupid in wound-inflicting ways). Let it bleed for a few seconds to clean it out, then squirt the superglue into the wound and compress. Seals tightly enough to stop the bleeding within 15-20 secs and it's solid enough to resume whatever you were doing within a minute or two. If one shot doesn't do it then wait a minute and give it another shot. Eventually the bits of hardened superglue work their way out of the skin, though I guess it's possible that I've got a few bits left inside me here and there.

A divot ??!! --Don't like the sound of that. Can't you just put back the "skin turf", pat it down, and act like nothing happened?
