Default Hot blade or cold blade?

When I was using a shavette I rinsed the lather off under a warm running tap. Since starting with a straight I try to avoid getting water on it and wipe on a towel. I kinda miss the blade being warm I think it makes a difference. Maybe it's just my imagination.

Do you notice a difference? Who prefers their blade warm or cold and why?

I quite like it being wet since it seems to glide better but I'm not partial to a particular temperature.

I rinse my razor under the tap every day and have avoided problems - one would have to accredit this fortuitousness to drying the razor thoroughly and wiping a thin layer of oil.

I like my blade red hot. My hair just seems to melt away 😏

Seriously I never wet my blade I wipe it on a towel. And the use a piece of toilet paper to clean
It off when done. Then I strop it on felt for 20 laps wipe it with toilet paper again and let it sit in
a razor stand opened for the day to make sure it's dry. I then coat it with oil when I put it back into my razor box.

I think your fortuitousness lies not in avoiding rust but rather that you haven't chipped your blade on the sink or faucet YET!

It is in fact more fortuitous than that! I rinse under the tap and removed any stubborn bits with my thumb rather than shake the razor in the faucet - safer for the razor but certainly hazardous for my opposable digits!

Yes it is a bad idea and I'm moving away from such practices!

I honestly don't get how one would chip a razor on the tap...

I rinse it with warm water during the shave, warm water and TP after. I don't like my razor to be excessively hot, as I find it uncomfortable, but I like to keep the water warm in case I need to splash my brush before the next pass.

Everything cold. Which is odd, because in the rest of my life, I hate the cold.
    Keep your pivot dry!

Count me as one who prefers a hot blade, regardless of the type of razor. I just don't like the feeling of cold steel on my face. I always warm up the blade under the hot water tap before it touches my face.
