I think the best description of my lathering style is "messy pragmatist".

Whipper is the best description for me. Fast, straight, back and forth whipping. Makes a whipping noise too. The slapping of lather and brush on my face builds creamy slick peaks of epic and wakes me up!

I'm a face latherer primarily and I start out vigorously swirling and adding water periodically until I get the thick lather I'm looking for. Then, I plaster it on. I used to bowl lather and I still sometimes start out with a bowl; however, I still end up spending a lot of time working the lather into my face with the brush anyway so I usually see no need to waste time whipping up lather in a bowl.

    Lynn,

You may want to add "spackler" to the vote category. I know a little late.
    Nice post.

I never thought about it till this poll was started .. I usually swirl neck , jawline and up to where I stop my sideburns then paint side to side on chin or lip area ...

I pretty much do it all, I start with the swirl, especially when I face-lather, then do some painting, then squeeze the brush to get some lather on the tip, then paint and swirl some more... Might be a placebo effect but I think if I take my time with the lather process it softens the beard that little bit more

Face latherer here using circular/swirling strokes to build the lather and painting strokes to spread it.
