My regular Barber has moved and I have been looking for a new one. I keep my hair very short ("The less you have the shorter it should be" as one of my Mates says) so I get a haircut every 7-10 days depending on the schedule of travel.

Replacement #1 has odd and inconsistent hours.
Replacement #2 was ok, but was in one of those Shops that has the music so loud that it is only bearable after the blood dries in my ears, and by then its time to go.
Replacement #3 is a very traditional Barber Shop when you get past its a Mother and Daughter team - the Husband/Dad - Barber passed away a few years ago.
Everything is great except one of them will leave one sideburn at the length I come in at, the other side will be cut "flush" or 1/4' higher.
So I guess I need to start marking them before I go in...

    Smooth Shaving..

I've never had a problem with keeping sideburns even to be honest. The longer whiskers are good at letting me know when the blade comes into contact and still not cutting those whiskers; and a square/rectangular mirror seems to frame the face so that, even if I have asymmetrical facial features, it's easy to visualize the symmetry or balance and thereby basically see the line.

In the old days when you went to a barber he used the scissors to make a "notch" in the sideburn where he wanted to trim and then used a straight from the point on down.

    That's a good idea.

I usually try to keep mine on the upper cheek bone. It's a blind spot for me, so sometimes I'll just go across when edging out the line. Other times, I just say meh and don't particularly care if they're a bit off.

Just level them off your jaw bone. Dead easy. Well unless you shave your sideburns right off
