I read this post by Glen yesterday and it did not really sink in until in bed last night ( I do my best reasoning and thinking things through at night when I cannot sleep) So this morning I decided I was going to try to use as little pressure as possible using my normal 4 pass shave techniques. It worked better than I expected. The chin and neck areas are my hardest areas but today it was much easier. I ended up with a BBS shave with no effort. Now we shall see if I can duplicate this on my next shave. Kudos to Glen for sharing his wealth of knowledge with newbies like myself

Thanked: 1184If you haven't changed your prep and edges are same as always, then it's angle and/or pressure. Or your listening to disco instead of rock while your shaving.

SUCCES! This morning I tried all of the above and I'm glad to report that I got my mojo back! Turned out that it was indeed a combination of pressure/angle/prepping.. I spent a little more attention to detail and it rewarded me with a pleasantly smooth shave.. Thanks again to all that put in their 5 cents

I'm glad only your mojo was rusty & not your edges.

Thanked: 5I know sometimes it helps if I strop a razor onto a strop that has some diamond paste.

Thanked: 1184I thought for sure is was the Disco. On the road to learning we don't realize as much how the little details matter. Once we know better we obviously forget from time to time.

I can see that the OPs original problem is solved, but I disagree with this statement - sometimes your face is the problem. I certainly have days of bad skin and blotchiness despite an unvarying preparation - my shaves on those days are sub-optimal. This happens more often during winter months - bring on some sunshine and things improve. I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds this.
