Thanked: 4First, this ex USN Hospital Corpsman would like to say, "thank you for your service." When I was in boot, our company commander had us shave with water alone so there would be no soap residue when inspections came around. That was in 1976. I shaved this way up until about a year ago when I started using a straight. I have a full beard and mustache that my wife is loathe to let me shave, so I only have to deal with my neck and cheeks. I am a retired RN, and now only shave on Tuesday and Saturday evenings for church on Wednesday and Sunday. Works for me...

Thanked: 0While in the RAF I had to shave every day as I have a very heavy growth that was some times twice a day. As soon as I was dissabled out every two or three days no matter how scruffy up the establishment. But since using a straight razor once or twice a day as it is a pleasure now I go sit on the bed and forget all problems and loose myself in the what is now a pleasure used to shave standing up until my legs spasamned and I nearly took a large chunk out not recommended .it is not an enforced ritual of get in scrape of get out. What a difference

Thanked: 375I shave my head & beard pretty much everyday, might take 1 day out of a month and not shave. Usually because of irritation, time, or I just did't feel like it. Hell I just took three months off from shaving my beard, my wife was quite irritated and badgered me daily to shave it off. I enjoy irritating her......

Thanked: 220Every other day or so. I used to shave every day, but then discovered that I get an all around better shave when my stubble is at least 2 days old.

Thanked: 0Usually every 2-3 days for me. But after shaving clean one fateful, early November day, with an outside temp of -6 degrees (celsius) without the windchill, I decided to grow a beard. So that being the case, I've been doing a single pass on the neck with a shavette every 4-5 days or so. I am starting to miss the ritual though...

Thanked: 3795As a new deer hunter last year, I learned every bit of possible insulation was a good thing when wandering in the woods or swaying in the wind up a tree in Minnesota in November and December. So while hunting, I don't shave at all. The rest of the year, since I work in a lab where I don't give a damn about my appearance, I shave whenever I feel like it. That means sometimes every day and sometimes every week. That's the great thing about a straight. One day, a week, or a couple months of growth, a straight can handle it.

I try to shave daily, however if it is a "work around the house day" it's a shave free day for me.

I've been in the military for 20 years and I shave Monday-Friday, the weekends are off-limits, unless I take the wife somewhere nice. I will continue to shave after the military, but I'd imagine there will be days-off in the future.

I'm retired now so 1 to 2 times a week. I have noticed that the longer I wait the better shave I get or the closer smoother shave it get.
