    As a fairly new straight razor shaver, I would also like to suggest a round point razor. The square point or even worse the spike point will bite you hard if you are not careful! Not worrying about the point is one less thing on your mind as you get the hang of shaving.

    If you buy new, purchase from a vendor who will re-hone the factory edge to "shave ready". New razors do not come with "True Shave Ready Edges". You can save some dollars by purchasing a used razor from a member on the SRP For Sales Forum. Just ask the seller if the razor will come delivered with a "Real Shave Ready Edge".
