Adam's apple shave problems
So I know this spot is tricky for everyone, I always pull it to the left and right so it's not on my Adam's apple but I still can't get that 3-4" area BBS. I do my first pass WTG and a second up the throat AGT. When I run my fingers those directions it's smooth. But you go laterally, left and right, and you feel the stubble. It's driving me nuts cause I don't really have an angle for my razor to make a pass that direction.
Any tips or videos anyone can recommend.

hey lumberjack55, I have a large Eric's apple and it is a pain to shave around. I can tell you, I can never get that sucker BBS. I use a DE as well as a straight depending on time restrictions and there seems to be no getting it perfect. I pull off to the left and right and get as best I can and call it a day. Mine seems to be the same as you up and down its smooth and left to right I feel stubble. Someone else may have better advice but my novice experience tells ya to live with that and you are not the only one. I find the more I try and get my adam's apple smooth all around the more nicks and irritation I get. Best of luck

"I,m going to give you advise the that will make your life so much better. First, you have not been at this long, only time will get you to the best shave that is possible, some take a year to really get good at it. It depends on how often you shave, like me every day, gets there faster than a guy who doesn't shave everyday.
Now for the priceless advise, but no charge, "Chasing BBS SMOOTH ALL OVER, ISNT NEEDED". A DFS will get 95% of the stubble you feel that no one will ever see, plus after a few hours even a lot of the stubble you feel while shaving will somehow lighten up too. I f it bothered you keep learning , it will come , I can get it all now too. But after a while you will learn that your here to shave not obsess
I did this in the beginning too, but noy I realize I enjoy shaving and never being happy with the results sucks, so now I,m happy with my normal shave that never irritates or disappoints, and I can get the stubble on the neck now, I just don't worry about it anymore.
Just a thought Relax and it happens, but not overnight. Tc
also remember in the beginning your also not dealing with the best edge all the time, it takes along time to actually improve your edges from stropping, and to be honest we don't know how to shave yet anyway, which leads to edge degradation too.Last edited by tcrideshd; 03-05-2016 at 12:43 PM.

Of course BBS isn't needed all over, but neither is having 4 difference shaving creams, multiple brushes, razors, creams etc. I get your point, doesn't kill me but it's a goal I strive for, love the process of shaving and do it daily even though I don't need to.

TC and I disagree about the shave we want daily. I do chase the BBS daily with a four pass shave. TC's shave makes him happy and my shave makes me happy.
My beard on my neck grows somewhat right to left in spots on my neck and so I know what you are up against. The only thing that has worked for me is a toe up razor position that is a scything motion somewhat against the grain. Takes practice and time to develop and if you are pretty new, go slowly while developing new strokes and go forward only as your comfort level allows.
Good luck and mostly just enjoy your shaves.

That's what makes this so great, we do what's best for ourselves, and we have the ability to disagree and carry on.. Man I chased the BBS for over a year, had it down pat, but I really backed off of a lot of this stuff, and really enjoy my shaves as much as a guy who us spending more time in front of the mirror, my good friend Bob is a 4 pass guy too. I accept him. Lol,, I do on my Sunday shave pull out the stops before church, haven't figured out why the old women who just have to kiss me on the cheeks aren't rubbing my neck, but hey it's what I do. But I,ll go back to the original question and reiterate, time will get you there, as long as the edges are right , the prep us good for your beard, no one and I mean no one gets its from the first few shaves, heck there are guys who have done this for numerous years that don't get the neck, I just happened to find the right angle and stretch to do mine and everyone's neck us different, what works for me might not work for you. diagonal strokes outwards from centre or vice versa might get you closer?

Holy cow if I did four passes my face would be hamburger meat!
These recommendations show you that there are multiple ways to get trouble areas, even maneuvers that you may not have known existed! So just keep practicing and trying new angles of attack until you find one that produces acceptable results.

Thanked: 7As tcrideshd said, it is really unnecessary to achieve BBS all over your face.
Non the less, if you are a perfectionist like me, you'd like to achieve it anyway :]
I deal with my adam's apple like so: Try swallowing, and holding the position of your apple up, as if holding the action of swallowing... It's going to take some dry-tries, and please don't try this with a straight against your throat for the first time....
Good luck!
