Default You're never too old for a rookie mistake

As my stropping technique has improved over the last year, I have my Hart Steel Kami's in great shaving shape. And I've weeded out the the average soaps from the super soaps and things have pretty much dialed in on this journey. I love straight shaving and can't wait to do it every day. I can't even remember the last time I had a significant nick or cut.

Oh wait! Yes I can. About ten minutes ago I cut my neck like I was trying to take myself off the planet. What happened? As I was up-stroking on my neck, I turned my head for no good reason, turning a shave into a slice. All the sudden I'm in the middle of an 80's slasher movie.

My long-winded point. Never get comfortable. Stay focused every shave like you're doing it for the first time.

I'm 100 percent fine except for the embarrassment of going to work tomorrow with a little band-aid on my face. I earned it.

No need to be THAT scared... you'd have to slice at least one cm deep to get to anything REALLY serious, and you'd have to be seriously high on bath salts to get anywhere near that deep without stopping several times over unless you were intentionally doing it... and even then, I can tell you from personal professional experience in the ER dealing with multiple neck wounds that it has to be a LOT deeper than most people are even able to intentionally/physically go before you hit an artery or slice a big enough hole in your trachea to where you couldn't get help in time. The closest/worst thing you could hit would be the thyroid/parathyroid, and you'd have to be slashing with some serious strength to get through the "adam's apple" cartilage protecting them. The small arteries/veins near the surface of the neck may look like they're spurting gallons of blood, but it's always way, way less than it looks like.

A little fear is healthy, though. Honestly (and personally) I'd be more scared of what your/my Significant Other would do to me and make me throw out (not my precious razors!) if you hit a little squirter after you scared her to death. Remember: 1. it's always a lot less blood than it looks like 2. all bleeding eventually stops and 3. for the less "evolved" among us, "chicks dig scars" (I hear that a LOT from pt's in the ER, but it's always from guys and I've never heard a girl/woman actually say she likes scars and I've seldom had them want to even look at a wound, even after it's sutured, even when it's on them... it's always the guys that want to take a picture before I bandage it up and post it to Facebook...)

The bleeding would definitely stop after about 8 pints

More or less, depending on body weight, and my point exactly.
