Thanked: 1I always try to listen to my razor while shaving, it can tell a lot about your angle and if it cutting smoothly or skipping. I also try to listen while I strop if I hear something different I stop and check what I am doing before continuing.

Thanked: 0Definitely the audible feedback helps, although a wedge doesn't make much sound, so if your blade isn't hollow ground YMMV.

I always listen, you can figure the exact angle that you want much more accurately from the audio feedback than you can from looking at the angle of your razor.
Realization of the vastness of ones own ignorance is the first step on the path to true wisdom.

I just picked up a wedge a few days ago and it taught me a lot about the feedback and lack thereof. This thing makes almost no sound on my face or on the strop. It's eerie. Shaves wonderfully, but now it sounds like my half hollows sing.
