    Default Saying goodbye

Now that I have your attention. [emoji1] A little back story. I've been wet shaving for several years now but only started using SR since about Feb. I have chased not only the smooth irritation free shave I was used to with a DE but wanted to be able to start and finish a shave with my SR.
Well I have finally reached that milestone. I have completed a 3 pass shave BBS the last 3 shaves in a row so I'm now saying goodbye to using my DE, for the time being. Gotta give this site and more importantly the fine folks here many thanks for sharing their knowledge and encouragement to those of us that are new to this. Thanks for letting me ramble.
    Happy shaving
    Phil

Congrats, I've 'been there, and done that', but found after some time I returned to the DE on occasion. For awhile I almost felt as if I was 'cheating' if I didn't shave with a straight, but now I enjoy the best of both worlds depending on the day. Still, it is a great feeling when you've mastered the straight razor.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks. It's funny you say you felt like it was cheating because there were those times but the DE will always have a place in the shave rotation. I've actually been thinking about upgrading mine but that will wait for another day.

Congratulations on your accomplishment! I have also been enjoining SR shaving, but for about a month now. It is challenging, but very satisfying.

I still shave with DE from time to time, I have too many nice ones to dismissed them completely, but SR is my ultimate goal, plus the razors are much prettier :-)

Congrats on reaching the new cool factor level! Now, you pretty much only need to resort to a DE if you are in a rush. DEs work well, but in my opinion the straights provide a much better sense of accomplishment, and now you know how that feels!

I used to mix the week up with 3 straight razor shaves & the rest DE shaves; now I'll shave with a straight for a week, then 2 weeks with a DE.

Congratulations, I am still learning the ropes and getting better but I am not there yet.

I confess that when I am at work I do two passes with a straight and a third with a DE, just to be sure I look OK. At the weekends I don't touch my DEs at all.

Like you though I don't think that I will ever fully replace my DEs, I guess they will be easier for travel if nothing else. Or when I get up late

I have a ton of DEs and SEs. They're great razors, but 9 times out of 10, I reach for a straight. Now you know why.
    Congrats.

"Cheating". Love it. I feel the same. Gotta get over it as I really do enjoy using a DE.
Now when I use multi blade cartridges, THATS cheating...

Congrats on the milestone. I have been using a straight razor for about two months and like you I would hit a few spots with the DE after a SR shave.

I will never be able to give up DE's because there are times I need to get in and out of the bathroom and the DE is quick.

I might get there someday where I am faster but for now the DE will still be around.
