First straight shave in the 60's, didn't try it agsin for many years, still wet shaved and then a straight as a daily occurrence about nine years ago. Now a bit shaky some mornings so straights are used seldom.

First used a straight when I finally decided I had grown up, three years ago at age 80.

Had to turn 50 before I used my first straight razor. I honestly never gave it any thought - didn't even realize this kind of razors still existed. And then I discovered wet shaving forums

I purchased my first straight in Philadelphia around the summer of 1986 (22yrs) just got out of the Army and thought it would be a novel thing to try. Bought a nice C.V. Heljestrand, I think a Mk 31 as I recall and and an Illinois 128 strop used it a couple of months until I couldn't shave with it anymore because I couldn't keep it sharp. Then I guess I forgot about it till a couple of years a go. Shame I never found that razor again still have the strop though and use it still. I think its amazing in retrospect that all I was missing was the internet and I would of kept with it. I think we a re fortunate to be able to share knowledge and experience online and learn whatever we want in this world through things like this lovely forum.

I got about a month under my belt so far and wont pick up any other type of razor until my hands wont hold a straight any longer!
You cant get any more manly than shaving with a straight! It's just Sharpening, right?
