Thread: About that coldwater shave...

I switched to cold-water shaving about 4 months after taking up straights nearly 7 years ago, and I get great results. Even in the dead of winter, I find that the cold water doesn't feel too cold on my face; I suppose that's because of all the blood rushing around in one's head. One added benefit I've noticed is that when I do nick myself, it doesn't bleed as much and it stops faster; maybe the cold water keeps the capillaries from dilating? Just my two cents; you gotta do what is most comfortable and effective for you. Have fun!

Interested aspect. That a coldwater shave would stop bleading faster makes sence... Hadnt thought of that. Thanx

Thanked: 38I picked up the cold water shave habit a few years ago after reading about it here. Very pleased with the change. It took a little while to get my lather back, but overall I'm happier now. Much less irritation.

Thanked: 72The only time I cold water shave is when I am running really, really late for work. Then, it is a lifesaver and I get a good shave.
However, normally, I'm a hot water in a hot scuttle guy. I don't think the performance is better, I just think the experience is better.
The warm lather feels great, the scent opens up more when it's warm and I just enjoy my shave more.D-rings, not handles

when we built this home we had those those tankless water heaters put in ,, plus we had the recirculating hot system, basically a small return line that keeps the hot water at the faucet. doesn't use any more water cause its on a constant loop.
now as for cold or hot water. I do both and no difference in my opinion other than the pampering feels good. my beard is really tough and cold or hot after a hair absorbs the moisture its in there. that's why I shower first 90% of the time, now if a cold water shave aint working maybe the blades edge aint cutting it. like Bobh ive really gotten to like my no prep cold water shave, now that I,m back in Hades for the summer I will continue to do so Tc“ I,m getting the impression that everyone thinks I have TIME to fix their bikes”
