My razor has a rounded toe, and for right under the nose I do a single mid-blade North/South pass on the philtrum, then use the rounded toe with a gentle buffing motion up to the nostril and then a pretty much North/South about half-way down the upper lip/moustache area. I change right/left grip depending on which side of the nose I'm working on.

I use a spike point or Dreadnought point and all three passes while pushing the point of my nose up and rolling my top lip down over my teeth to ensure it is sufficiently stretched.
I pay particular attention to the sharpness of the blade and the pressure that I apply to it.
Have I cut myself? - you betcha, but that is how we learn.
Less pressure = shallower cuts YMMV

I meant to congratulate you on your initials - same as mine...hehehe
Hang on and enjoy the ride...
