Welcome to Hollywood where everything is possible. The problem is some dumb jackass will try the stuff Hollywood portrays as being real and end up cutting his throat.

I watched the untouchables with the scene where dinero is being shaved by a barber just to have the nick shot in there. He was holding the razor almost at 90'. I couldn't help but to say " he's not going to cut anything but skin like that, his form is all wrong." And I couldn't believe the reply that was given back to me by my gal. Well apparently your wrong because I saw all the hair on his face before the shaving cream went on, and now it's not there." I had to remind her that it's a movie and he probably shaved and then relathered. I was even more surprised to hear her say the actual words " your right"

There is a straight shave scene in the new movie 'Blind' where Demi Moore shaves Alec Baldwin. It starts not too horrible, but quickly degrades to 90 degree shave angles, and watching Demi rattle the blade around in a glass bowl to clean lather made me cringe.

    Aloha!

Happened to catch another MASH straight razor scene this last weekend, this time with Harry Morgan (Col. Sherman Potter) wielding a straight razor. I could tell that Morgan definitely knew his way around the blade. He was certainly old enough to have used a straight razor "back in the day". Morgan was born in 1915.

A good cringeworthy one is the 1941 Three Stooges short "An ache In Every Stake", in which Curly shaves a block of ice.....

There is a short scene in "My Cousin Rachel" Not my style of using a straight, but the angles were correct. One of the better ones that I've ever seen as far as technique.

    Aloha!

This has to be among the worst. If I saw a barber strop like that, I'd politely excuse myself from his chair. The lather application and the whole other razor manipulation in this scene is so wrong, it's just ridiculous. But then the barber is supposed to be acting "Nervous" in the scene. He does that well.

The thing is they rarely even get it right when they are using a DE! What's that all about?

Typically a shave scene is only in there so that the person shaving/being shaved can get a nick.

Having said that I would let Naomie Harris shave my face any day...
she doesnt seem to even be touching the balloon with the blade edge. mostly using shoulder to take the shaving cream off
