Thanked: 2It certainly takes more than a couple of shaves to get it dialed in with a straight. I think by around 50 shaves, you should feel pretty good about it, but you will still improve from there to 100 shaves. Pay close attention to stretching your skin, and direction of beard growth, and you'll be surprised in how that will pick up those stray whiskers. I typically will take 30 minutes to relax, and enjoy my shave, and do 3 passes, to try for perfection. Never try and hurry for time's sake with a straight, as it is not worth the risks.

Your doing great, Really!!
As for oiling, your way seems fine. I personally don't oil my razors, I wipe them dry, then strop to make sure the bevel is clean, and the edge realigned. Then I store them in a upright position with the blade open.(24hrs.) I like using a flower frog for this. I have a somewhat large rotation of around 160 razors, ( kept away from the shave den) and have no rust issues.
