Thanked: 7Guys listen but don't want to try.
I found the same thing back when I was skydiving. People show interest but most (99%) don't want to have anything to do with it.
Yesterday two guys at the gym let me jot down some notes for them but only one seemed really interested.
Most seem terrified they'll "kill themselves." I think movies and TV are to blame, helped or encouraged by the disposable razor companies.
What are your thoughts?

Thanked: 4826My thought are, it’s just grooming. I do what I do because it works for me. If anyone is truly interested they will come to me for advice or answers. The rest of them can do whatever they want. It’s really none of my business how bad their rash is or why they can’t figure out how to resolve it. There are a lot of people that know that I know a lot about the subject of shaving and what is available in the market place. Those that seek answers get my best answer, and everyone else gets nothing. Let the sheep be sheep.

Thanked: 3795I want to try skydiving, but the plane would have to be on fire and missing at least half a wing and all if its landing gear.

Thanked: 7See what I mean? This is the same irrational fear most people have of the straight razor.
It's OK.....I'm terrified of being on a pitched roof.

It's simply a lack of education. Many humans fear the unknown and the unfamiliar.

Thanked: 580You are wasting your time trying to convince anyone to shave with a straight. Better off getting them going with a de using the "It will save you money" line and they may gradually show interest in progressing.
Most don't believe that you can get a great shave from one, others can't be bothered with the learning and patience required.Into this house we're born, into this world we're thrown ~ Jim Morrison

Thanked: 3225The easiest way to loose friends/potential friends is to try and convert them to your hobby, whatever it is. I enjoy my hobby and will help someone if they show an interest when they find out I shave with a straight razor. I am not interested in converting anyone, just enjoying my hobby. Life is better that way.

Most people aren't interested in "doing things the old way". Everybody knows that new is better.

Waste of time. SR shaving is a pain in the ass. There’s a reason why it went away. There’s a steep learning curve, an expensive razor to purchase, and the problem of it dulling. Most people just don’t care enough to deal with it. If you tell them they are curious. But mostly they are curious why you bother. Either you get it or you don’t.
