Thanked: 98yeah ill look to him as future inspiration. For now, I'll stick the same technique mentioned above. Holy crap that guy is insane. How much beard growth did he take off like it did matter?

As I can only use my right hand (leftie is a rather untrustworthy shady dude) I havent figured out how to do ATG in the right side of my neck only the left. I can do an across the grain and that seems to work pretty well though.

Thanked: 39I have had the same trouble with getting a bbs on my neck. It took a good year and a half of practice to get a bbs result. I have to do a scything motion from under my ear to my Adam’s apple with no pressure what so ever to get a close, irritation free shave on my neck.
Practice and beard mapping is really what made it possible for me. I also have some hair swirls on the side of my neck thrown in for good measure. In those spots beard mapping was crucial.

Thanked: 7Matt1222,
I am with you there BUT just now, I did my best performance yet on my neck. Oddly enough, I am actually better using my weak hand on the right side than I am using my strong hand on the left!
The good news is, I am getting better.

Thanked: 7That guy certainly is "manly!"
He's also blessed with downwards growth on his neck.......I wish my neck hairs grew that direction. Then I could shave my neck against the grain with one simple pass......not the two I do now. *This guy cut himself at least once on the chin also, you can see the blood flow for just a moment during the shave.

My pics are of what I do after a vertical ATG pass. Its what I have to do to pick up the stragglers in my smashed wire brush, beard.

Thanked: 556I wish I could do that. My neck hairs grow in every possible direction. I have a beard and the only thing I can use my SR for on my neck is to define the jawline of my beard. If I want a really close shave, I use a DE to finish the neck with the grain, against the grain, across the grain, across the grain the other way and a whole bunch of random short strokes to pick up the stragglers. Otherwise, I’m happy with BBS on my cheeks and a tad rough on my neck.

That's how I do it, just switch hands. I lather up twice, once for the right hand and again for the left.

pretty much every ones neck hair goes in all directions, my beard was like copper wire before it turned white now its tungsten, and the neck hairs go in 4-5 directions, but WTG seems to do the trick with a 2cd buffing stroke across the grain,, my wife doesn't complain. its just up to us to map it out and do the proper stroke, but ATG needs a well honed blade to do it without irritation,,, and as you get a year or so behind you it will be second nature then. now to be honest not many experienced guys go for BBS every shave, a DFS is good enough cause I don't know about you but women don't just walk up to me in the street and see if I,m BBS. and if a guy does it he will not wake up for a while.
