Aesthetics may attract someone to a Porsche, but until you have actually driven a race car in street clothing, you have absolutely NO idea how deeply the hook can get set.
For me, this is almost identical to my journey into straight razor shaving. When I first saw a couple of Dobson razors online back in 2012, I mainly thought they looked cool, nostalgic, etc. Then I started shaving with modern production, vintage, and custom straight razors while also learning to hone them at the same time (I rarely do anything half-a$$ed). Once again, I was a fish on a hook...but happy as a clam.
Other folks prefer living in McMansions and taking spendy vacations. As with all things, YMMV.--Mark

As long as you are not spending the mortgage or electricity money on razors it's all good I absolutely agree with the post above, utilitarian approach vs hobby. I started with the first, one DE razor, one brush and a load of Feather blades. Carried me for 6 years. I shaved and that was it. Since getting into straights I view it as a hobby. I like collecting razors, stones etc. Even bought my second brush last week
Whatever makes people happy.
Yes speedster, once you drive a race car in street clothing you do get hooked. Nothing like being able to drop from 6th to 3rd and take off like a bullet.

Yes, yes, just look at this awful, mass-produced Solingen piece of crap I threw my money at

I preferred doing double the curve warning speed limits without any fear of sliding out. Only getting 5,000 or less miles tread-wear on a tire really brought tears to my eyes though. Getting a good deal on a used Porsche was the easy part. Paying to insure and maintain the beast was incredibly painful.
These days, I cruise anonymously in an Ody-van.--Mark

This is my analogy regarding $1000 dollar razor vs $50. Marilyn Monroe is the $1000 razor, Anne Ramsey is the $50 razor.
Right both of them will do your housework cooking cleaning hoovering and if you are lucky scrub your back in the tub, my question to you which one would you choose if you could afford both.

I would think it would depend on whether you were passed-out or not, Bob!
