I'd no be trying that on the 3000 ton destroyers I was on. I'd rather try shaving on a bucking bronco.

No way would I have shaved if the ship was that small.

Had no choice but to shave as unshaven was frowned upon. Mind you it was using DEs and Carts back then though, not straight razors. Timing your strokes was everything.

Personally, I like the long strokes! None of that scratch, scratch, scratch stuff. Long is good. Long is efficient. Long is confident.

It would have to be the XTG strokes for my moustache area which tells me much about the blade's sharpness. The Fool's Pass became much easier when I switched from WTG/ATG to WTG/XTG and ATG as needed for touch-ups. I don't miss pouring out beginner's stress sweat approaching with either strokes to just under my nostril area...nor do I leave any stray whiskers there. Gotta love that!

Good to see someone else appreciating the "long game," earcutter. I do prefer longer strokes and especially a slightly sliding XTG stroke.

Funny tho I only seem to nick myself these days with my dominant hand. Routine "testing" reveals that I must be concentrating just a wee bit more when executing my left-handed strokes.

XTG being from the centre out or vice versa?

No, from outside edges of mouth diagonally following lip line to the philtrum (vertical trough between nose and mouth). Sometimes I'm changing from XTG to ATG as I approach the center underneath each nostril. Depends upon the razor though.

    I understand your problem.

Do I take it that you would give your right arm to be ambidextrous?
