Some cheapo shavettes are a real horror show. Some are not so bad. I was using them a lot before I retired, so I didn't have to carry so much shaving paraphernalia every time I went on a ship. For a long time I used the ones from Sally's and they were okay if you were very careful to get the half blade mounted correctly. Now my go-to shavette is a swing-back type using half DE blades (I prefer Feathers and bought a lifetime supply of them several years ago) and it was a bit over $3 from a Chinese fleabay seller. It's not too bad but now that I am home forever I really don't use a shavette very much.
In the under $5 range, I suggest avoiding the slide-out types. They can be very fiddly. The swing back types are easier to load and they hold the blade more securely in my experience.
A Parker is fairly affordable and is a bit better than the super cheapies.

Ain't no more than a aluminum pie pan, folded over a razorblade.
