Will do.....you know....i just get overzelus trying to pick up all the patches...for some reason there are parts......that just dont come out smooth....I think thats exactly where i went wrong on this shave. Ive been doing the scientific method of using same soaps same setups....same shave days...and that is one thing i didnt take into account....was the actually shaving strokes/passes......since i really dont count them each time.

Monday-Friday I shave with a str8. I usually don't shave on Sat or Sun unless we are going out. If I don't shave till Monday that shave truely rocks.

Most will tell you if they skip a day they will get a closer shave. Probably there is more for the razor to bit into. I shave everyday and have no problems with burn. I think you should mind your passes, watch pressure on the blade and mind your blade angle. As long as you are sure your razor is perfectly honed and you are sure stropping is not the problem those are the only things left to cause problems. The fact is you should be able to shave everyday and experience no razor burn period.

I don't have to shave every day... and I don't

Sometimes I have to shave several days in a row - not often at all. Actually, I am doing this sometimes now just because I like to do it. I used to have issues with DE if I did this - but straights are much better on my face.

You are on the right track - don't go for BBS every day. I think you have to condition your face gradually for BBS every day. One guy here had said that in the army he had conditioned his face for water-only w/ a disposable Bic every day! But then he lost is, as he stopped doing it, iirc...

I must say I have very sensitive skin but I don't remember being tender several hours after a shave - this seems like serious burn? I get mad if I get some red spots that disappear after a little while - just because I want to shave and see no redness whatsoever when I finish.

    Good luck

That's exactly what I find. My beard grows slowly and relatively sparse, so I don't need to shave every day, but more importantly even if I did I'd find that there's just not enough growth for the razor to bite into.

In fact, I have found the optimum shaving experience (getting BBS with absolutely zero irritation) occurs when I go three days without a shave. The hairs just fall off and I need fewer passes.

P.S. I find that a good weather vane for how your skin has taken the shave is using the alum block. That not only tells you whether you've been a little too aggressive in general, but shows you exactly which areas you've been shaving too hard. I find that after two days the alum stings a little, but after three days there's no sting at all!

I find im more of a three day person as well. Since the whole experience has been enjoyable, i posted on another board if since i wasnt growing as much each day if it would matter about the shave. The concensus was, if you enjoy it...do it. I think im just gonna have to be a two or three day person in the end. But im definately gonna be looking at the techinque.

I shave everyday also. I find that as long as I watch the pressure and don't get too aggressive, I don't have any problems. I'm still learning, so I don't go for or get BBS every single shave. The shaves are very close though. Try going light on the first pass. Sometimes I notice I have the urge to try to get down to skin level on the first pass. Its not necessary. Good luck.
