Thanked: 0One pass
So, I feel pretty much completely confident shaving all areas of my face after condiserably less than 100 shaves. I have a fairly light beard and with a DE razor did two passes only around the chin and throat. With the straight razor, I find that one pass and a bit of clear-up gives me a fairly close shave. If I did two passes, I probably wouldn’t have to shave again for a couple of days. I love the straight razor shave. No one outside this forum really cares, hence this post.

Good for you. If thats all you need to be happy.
I couldnt shave without doing 3.5 to 4.5 passes. Old gray whiskers are like shaving wire. It's just Sharpening, right?

That is awesome that things are coming along for you, and that you are enjoying the process so much. There's a great video on youtube of Lynn(one of the founding members) and he talks about how sometimes all he would do is a single pass. Cheers.

I do a single pass most of the week, I save the weekend for the full clean up.

Thanked: 1081All faces and skill sets are different so as long as you're enjoying your shaving routine and getting the desired results it's all good. I personally can do a one pass shave and look presentable but by the afternoon I'd need to shave again.

Once I decided to try shaving against the grain (as I mentioned elsewhere, if I do with any other razor besides a straight I get a rash) I don't shave every day unless I just do one pass. I am in the same spot as Mark. If I do shave one pass I get a shadow late in the day. If I do a second pass I will shave again the after next. However if I need to stay clean shaven then I only do one pass because shaving 24 hours later is too soon but by 30 hours later I am too shaggy.

I got rid of my goat n stash recently and have real problems shaving my top lip bottom lip and chin, intact as i write this I look like I was run over by the lawnmower from today's shave.
Having said that, I have found that the only way i can shave my chin and under my nose ATG is by holding the razor on both hands, now I know what a barbers notch is for.
Course I still look like i survived a car wreck so maybe both hands hasn't helped
Maybe I should go back to the goat n stash, just stick to high gradin- - Steve
