I have NEVER chased BBS, I stared using a SR for comfort, after 43 years I can get a a Clean Close Comfortable shave with one Multi-Directional pass since I mapped my face years ago.. If I need better I do a super light Clearwater pass..

If I shave every day, I can have a very close very comfortable shave. If I wait several days between shaves, I can get a very close and comfortable shave. I can gat a passable comfortable shave in one pass if I shave every day. I cannot get a passable comfortable shave in one pass if it has been more than two days. I can get a bbs shave but there is a risk of irritation. That line is very fine. Close and comfortable and bbs differences can only be felt by myself or my wife so I am not really into risking some minor irritation for that minor of a change. I love comfortable.

I bow to your experience Shawn.
I always try for BBS because I assumed people could tell.

The post shave balm soothes my face but the splash can make my eyes water lol.

To tell the difference someone would need to stroke my face.
There are only a couple of spots that it makes a difference on. Yes if I try for more the first thing that happens is the splash can bring a tear to my eye. If I go too far everyone can see the redness.

When my grandaughters come to visit. I give them a kiss and maybe rub my cheek on theirs.

    They can tell the difference.

It makes sense to me. Having learned to use a straight razor over the last couple of months, I find I sometimes have to go over some areas twice WTG if I haven’t shaved for a couple of days. I never shave against the grain. BBS is not a goal for me.

I shave every 3-4 days and do 2 passes.

But if I did shave every day...one pass is enough

I don’t have one of those Greek Beards.

When I first started with the straight....I couldn’t wait to shave...

    Now,,,not so much

I also have noticed getting a better shave if I shave every other day. I enjoy shaving with the straight so much that I hate to take a day off, but my beard also grows slowly, so taking a day of makes sense.

One pass ATG is all I do, irrespective of number of days I haven't shaved. If the razor is sharp enough it is all you need.
