Thanked: 335A clarification:
I do the #2 faucet flush routine because I want to get the lather off the razor and don't want to do it with my fingers or thumb on my off hand. The reason being when I switch hands I don't want the switch-to hand the least little bit slippery. I can easily watch where the razor is relation to the spigot, but when I grasp the razor with slippery fingers, I have no idea where things may end up - and this may include into or through digits which could find their way instinctively trying to catch the flying razor. Wet fingers are bad enough, lather lubed digits are a real caution - at least for someone like me who is blessed with a handful of thumbs.

Thanked: 0Bruce, I always keep a towel on hand to dry/wipe my hand after I take the lather off the blade. By the time I switch hands my hands are not slippery at all.

Make a pass, turn on the water, rinse, water off, repeat.

Thanked: 22I wipe it on the towel I used as a hot towel. The barbers here use a damp sponge.

#2 to clean the razor. I hold the blade it under hot/warm running water keeps the blade nice and warm and
then strike the spine on the edge of the faucet to remove the excess water..................
ok I was just kidding about the striking the spine on the faucet

I also rinse it off after each pass under the water...i don't use a towell until the end..after that i always use my wifes blowdrier to dry the blade,scales,tang....it ends up boiling hot ...no rusting after this , ever.

I do a number 3 and then a number 1. Just because I don't like to launder towels with hairy lather on them.
