Thanked: 11If you're going to post the time post the wattage of your microwave as well. A 1000 watt microwave heats up water twice as fast as a 500 watt one.

Thanked: 9I use a super thick, absorbant cotton towel wrapped over 4 times and if you put hot water in it it will stay warm to the face for several minutes. If you use a washcloth or a thin towel it does not matter how hot the water is - it will not stay warm. I just turned up the water temp in the water heater and it is plenty hot. The microwave program seems like a royal pain.

Thanked: 267I have small grandchildren over a lot and can not have really hot water come out of the facet. There is another thing and that is if one has a standard hot water heater it is more expensive to have the hot water at a higher temperature all the time. I use a dense bar towel and put it in the microwave for about 2 minutes then go off to the shower in the morning. I then take cold water and cool the ends so that I can wrap and tuck it behind my neck and not burn my neck. Major difference for me and I do it every day that I shave.

I am sure that you all your method that works for you. My experience with the microwave is that the heating is not uniform. This is one thing that I will not be trying out. My water heater provides hotter water that I can physically tolerate but if it didn't, I would just use ye old stove. Please do not take it personal ;-).
