So, how's the microwave hot towel?
I know a couple of guys here have used the micro'd hot towel and I was just curious.
Do you think it'll be a permanent fixture?

I have used one a couple times and it works but I can get my towel hot enough with my hot water from the sink.

microwave
After hearing that Glen had bought a small microwave for the shave den, I decided to give it a try. I figured 30 seconds would do the trick...Yeah, it did. I pulled it out and the temp didnt really hit me at first, but then it set in with a vengence. Thank God I didnt get it up to my face yet. I'm not sure I'll continue the practice. Maybe if I had one right there in the bathroom. One thing I have started doing is wetting down a wash cloth and putting it in the freezer before the shave. By the time Im done its frozen solid. A quick rinse with some cold water and its pliable again. It feels great after a good shave and even better aftr a bad one. Closes up any nicks you may have and closes up those pores. I recommend it.

i just did the micro-towel friday night. by the time i realized the time, it was way late to shower, however i had just honed 5 razors and they needed a test drive. 3rd time to do the micro-towel. i like it, but just be careful how long you leave it in. 30 sec seems to be good for me, and i run it through once, apply to face, then again for another 30 and reapply. this has worked well for me.
btw, 4 razors passed shave test. yeah me. junior hone dude.

Thanked: 43For me it works perfectly fine. I don't have a bathroom but I shave in the kitchen.
I use those little guest towels (approx. 50x30 cm) that I wet with tap water and fold a couple of times after wringing out the excessive water.
But as said by others before you have to figure out how long you leave it in and which microwave setting you use to have a perfect steaming towel but that isn't a tough job.
When the feeling of the towel is too I unfold it a bit and shake/wave it 2 times and its good to go.
I could go for the tap water but somehow, and I don't know why, I choose the microwave.

Well I have a shower, toilet a sink (kitchen) and everthing I need but they are separated from each other. I live in an old monumental building from the 1880 or something and it needs, as you say, some upgrades. Because of monumental aspect of the house there a some very stick regulations regarding upgrades and home improvement in the Netherlands. So temporarily I will have to do it the way it is.
But I wouldn't mind living in the woods though

I'm going to give this a shot. Our hot water heater stinks so by the time I get out of the shower, usually after the woman, theres no hot water. I'm lucky if I can get hot water to use during the shave. Microwave seems like it might solve my problem.

Update: It worked pretty good. I put it in for 25 seconds and went through it twice.

Thanked: 13245Just a little hint on doing this, the wetter the towel the better, it seems, and also I would suggest that posting how long you microwaved the towel be left out of the posts... To many variables here, to be of any good to the next guy!!!! Just my rambling thoughts on the subject...
Also you might try lathering up, then putting a steamed towel over the lather.....OMG that really works !!!!! and yes you have to re-lather
