Thanked: 0Cut my hand shaving...
Maybe this should be in the "Dumbass" section. In between passes on Sunday, I laid by razor on a towel. I accidentally bumped the towel and it and the razor headed for the floor. Reflexively, I reached out to catch it. My already deep respect for the rest of the animal kingdom continues to grow--their instincts allow them to survivie; mine are trying to kill me. I ended up with two small but painful lacerations on my palm. Worse, I have had to explain how I got them. So far, I've cut my nose, both earlobes, the inside of one of my ears and now my hand. Oddly, my technique has improved to the point that I don't cut my face or neck. Go figure.
P.S. The razor landed on the towel which landed on a rug; so it is fine.

Sorry that happened, but hopefully this painful lesson learned will prevent you from repeating such a folly as catching a straight razor. And just in case it happens again, you *will* be rightfully ridiculed and cajoled by me, and likely others
There but for the grace of God goes I!

That just shows how much you love your
straight razor, that you'd be willing to
risk limbs for it. I probably would have done
the same thing to save mine. Just remember
to wait a while before you go splashing
aftershave in the palm of your hand. OUCH!!

Thanked: 0I tried to catch a brand new Benchmade butterfly knife on it's way to the floor once. Once. Palm cuts bleed pretty good don't they.

You play with sharp instruments and you will get hurt.
Sadly that is a risk I am willing to take. I guess Darwin was right about us dumb folks we will gradually find ways to eliminate ourselves.
Sorry to hear of your plight and do not feel too bad, many of us have had worse. The best part about cutting yourself with a str8 is that it heals great because it make such a deep and fine cut, and the chances of infection is minimal.

Worst shaving cut I've had by far was on my thumb as I was changing hands. OUCH!

That sounds like something I would do just instinctively. I have a nice fluffy carpet in front of my sink so hopefully if I ever drop mine it will land safely on the rug without any interference from my flesh of any kind.

Thanked: 7Maybe it's just me but given the choice between a nick in the blade and a cut hand - I really think I'd take the cut.
