Thanked: 335proon,
During the shave I rinse in warm water - about the same temperature as the lather when first whipped up. After the shave I do what many of those who commented here do and that's rinse with the hottest water I can, then wipe the blade dry, and then fold it up with the edge covered by the handle but not closed tight so air can circulate a bit around the blade just in case there is a bit of moisture I missed. The hot metal should dry itself and moisture won't get trapped between the blade and scales with the blade "ajar".
While I'm not the most experienced shaver here, I've had no issues with corrosion on any razor in rotation for over a year. And I store them in my bathroom - not oiled, only as dried.
Good shaving

Thanked: 1587I keep my (soapy and hairy) shaving water in a enamel bowl in the sink (we are on water restrictions here, but I'd probably still do it regardless) as I shave. It starts off hot but ends up warm, and I just swish the blade in that to loosen any material and give it a quick wipe with my thumb as needed. I throw the contents over my garden at the end.
At the end I blow out any moisture between the scales and near the pivot, wave it rapidly back and forth through the air in the open position (make sure you have a tight grip on it if you do this!), wipe the blade and scales dry with a towel, and leave it open on my bathroom vanity for a day (no kids, or pets in the house).

Thanked: 3795During the shave, I just wipe the blade off with my finger. One wipe after right side, one wipe after left side, final wipe after upper lip followed by single hot water rinse to clear the blade. Done!

During the shave I keep a dry washcloth on hand to rid the blade of any hair and soap that has accumulated. This way it negates any possibility of the blade coming in contact with the water faucet.

I used a small strip of toilet tissue to keep the blade as I shaved, but I have started using hot water instead as it's not as messy.

I wipe the lather off w/ my fingers during the shave; then I rinse w/ hot water & dry it off w/ toilet paper (both on the blade and between the scales to make sure it's totally dry). I also don't store my razors in the bathroom to keep them away from humidity.

Thanked: 1Well if you buy into the idea that the heat from friction in linen stropping helps straighten the edge, then I guess it's not much different to think hot water can lend to the beard being tougher on the fin.
Anyway, hot water for me.Last edited by Friggin Joe; 04-13-2008 at 04:45 AM.

Hot water every time. Wet face towel that I prepped with is left in the basin and used as a wipe if I feel the urge after a rinse. I think the addition of heat to just about any part of the process makes it better - prep for face, soap and brush, rinsing and after depilation is complete, a hot rinse. Although I do often finish on a cold splash before some after balm.
