A shavette with a comercial blade "gilette" not cut in wtg direction this area... Only in xtg o atg cut this area.
If a shavette not cut this area a straight razor cut less

I concur on the linen recommendation.Since I have been doing 30 strokes on the linen followed by 40 strokes on the leather my shaves have improved.
In the area that you have circled, I find stretching and a warm water clean-up pass works well.

I used my digital camera to help me map out my beard. You might want to try this, it has made a huge difference in my results.
