    Default A tricky bit....

Gents, im a bit stuck on how to shave the tip of my chin. My chin is quite sharp (no Jay Leno though!) and if I stretch the skin by lifting my chin I still miss it and the angle isn't good. Any tips for young players?

I tend to use the heel of the blade (with short strokes) for shaving the chin. It's a small area and using just the heel gives more control.

You could also try stretching the skin by using your fingertips of your off hand to pull down just under the chin and scrunching your chin slightly while you do this.

I have to use my fingers to stretch my chin skin. Simply pulling my face up to tighten the skin doesn't do it for me. The more I stretch, the better shave I get. I also use a short, firm, but light stroke. When my skin is sufficiently stretched, I don't need to flatten out my blade angle to get the chin area and I get a closer shave.

I pull the skin to the side of the chin and then shave across a diagonal ear to tip of chin. I have been trying to get to ATG, but whiskers are just too coarse and curves too much to make this work. I can get near BBS with the stretch from the side. Also, keep the pressure light.

This is the most difficult area for me too. I like to re-strop the razor before I start on the chin. Then its a matter of taking my sweet time, and trying to keep the perfectionism down so I dont end up making a mistake.
It'll take a lot of practice though, so be ready to spend time on that area.
